Members mustplay with their guest(s). Guests are not permitted during stockholders only and other restricted times. Guests of the same name will be restricted to only two rounds per months. Members Guest Tournaments do not count towards this restriction.
Minors
Adults must accompany children under the age of 13; 13 and over may play at the pro's discretion.
Etiquette
Proper golf etiquette is expected of all members and guests. It is detrimental to the welfare, interest or character of Purpoodock Club to use profanity, throw clubs or generally misuse the golf course in any way that is contrary to the general etiquette of golf. This statement also applies to caddies and minor children of members.
No tank-top shirts, T-shirts, running shorts, bathing suits or denim may be worn on the golf course at anytime. Members or guests not conforming to the dress code will, in a courteous manner, be reminded of the requirements of the dress code and will not be allowed to use the Club's facilities, until such time that the member or guest becomes compliant with the dress code policy.
Always replace your divot after your shot, repair your ball marks, and rake traps, please leave rakes outside the bunkers.
Be considerate of other players and speed up your play if you are requested to do so. If a slow group fails to keep its place on the course and there is one open hole ahead of it, the following faster group must be allowed to play through. Players who stop for a sit-down lunch, or for any other reason that causes undue delay, will automatically lose their position at the turn, and must report to the Pro Shop before restarting. U.S.G.A. rules shall apply, except as conditions warrant, local rules will apply.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones have made it possible for some members to play golf and still fulfill their personal and professional obligations. Yet it is also true that cell phones and cell phone user etiquette have diminished the Purpoodock experience for many members.
Cell phones and similar wireless devices are permitted on the golf course. Common courtesy in their use is requested. Calls to the Pro Shop of a non-emergency nature do not satisfy either personal or professional obligations, and therefore the Pro Shop is instructed to disconnect any such calls. Ordering lunch, on the other hand, would be permissible. Common courtesy is hard to define, but might include waiting to make calls until there is a normal delay in play, taking care to avoid interrupting another group, and, if circumstances permit, turning the unit off.
Golf Carts
Purpoodock Club's golf carts are the only vehicles permitted on the course. Carts must be signed for before playing. Golf cart drivers must have a valid driver's license. Carts will abide by the 90-degree rule, travel on the paths or in the rough and stay a minumum of 30 feet away from the greens. Members and guests operating a Club owned cart will be responsible for any damage caused to or by the cart. Report all damages to the pro shop. The Club is not responsibile for personal items left in the carts.
Handicaps
To establish an official USGA sanctioned handicap you must submit five (5), eighteen (18) hole scores. To play in any of the major tournaments you must have a USGA sanctioned handicap. Check tournament guidelins or in the pro shop for additional requirements. Members may play in four ball events and the weekend sweeps while waiting for a handicap to be established. Check with the Handicap Chair of the Club Pro for an interim handicap while waiting for your officail handicap. All members must adjust and post a score each time they play.
The Handicap Committee may alter a player's handicap in accordance with the GHIN manual and U.S.G.A. guidelines.
Pace of Play
The golf course will be managed to expedite play (4 hours or less for 18 holes). The starter, ranger, pro, or Golf Committee will deal with any problem arising as the result of slow play.
Practice and Practice Facilities
Practice is not allowed to or on the greens, on the course or in the traps. Practice is allowed on the designated practice putting green and chipping area. Check the pro shop and website for hours of operation of the shop and driving range; hours depend on the season. It will be considered a serious breach of rules for a member or guest to play with or take range balls for any purpose.
Pro Shop opens at 6:45 a.m. weekdays, 6:30 a.m. weekends; closing times will be posted in the Pro Shop.
The Pro Shop will administer the Range; its hours of operation depend on the season. It will open with the Pro Shop and close roughly 1/2 hour before sunset - closing time will be posted weekly at the Pro Shop. It will be considered a serious breach of rules for a member to:
- Play with Range balls
- Take balls from the Range for any purpose
